Sights to See

  • Boat Quay - a rather busy street with various cafes and eateries that are offering a good meal as one enjoys the scenic view of Singapore River and some colonial architecture. Location is at Mouth of Singapore River.


  • Chinatown - for the traditional Chinese experience of teashops, shops making clogs and calligraphy, Chinese restaurants, temples and shrines. It is located off South Bridge Road.




Shopping Spree

Little India - aside from the malls, there are smaller shops which sell various Indian products like trinkets, sarees, spices, processed meats, jewelries and garlands.

Marina Bay a long stretch of shopping centers which starts from the City Hall MRT to Raffles Boulevard.

Chinatown located off South Bridge, this district is full of Chinese shops and restaurants.


Arab Street - displays the Muslim culture in an array of colors of their merchandise of textiles, jewelries, antiques and handicrafts. Located at Kampong Glam.

Five and Four Stars Hotel

The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore - from design to service and rooms, this hotel is well worth the price. Prices are pretty expensive if you plan to stay in their ordinary rooms as others can offer the same for a lower price. However, for those who can splurge more, the Club Level Room is a superb choice. Address is at 7 Raffles Ave., Singapore 039799 Singapore. , close to the Marina area.

The Fullerton Hotel Singapore - strategic location in the financial district and harbor. Address is at 1 Fullerton Square, Singapore 049178 Singapore.

Holiday Inn Park View - along the Orchard Road, this hotel is conducive for shopping and entertainment. Address is at 11 Cavenagh Rd Singapore 22 Singapore.

Swissotel The Stamform- a few miles away from Changi International Airport and is right in downtown Singapore, in the Raffles City Shopping Complex.


Two and Three Stars

The City Bayview Hotel- located well close to the shopping areas and some tourist spots. Amenities and facilities are well worth the price.

South East Asia Hotel - location is at the center of the city. Although the rooms may be small, they are clean. They have no pool so check in here if you only want a comfortable bed to come home to after a tiring tour of the city. Address is at 190 Waterloo St., Singapore 187965 Singapore.

Backpackers and Budget Lodge

Fragrance Backpackers Hotel offer a/c rooms and easy accessibility to Orchard Road and other tourist spots. It is located at a walking distance to subway station as well. Address is at 63 Dunlop St., Singapore 209391 Singapore.


Dining Places

Clarke Quay - this area is full of restaurants on various themes like local cuisine, Italian, Indian, Chinese, Western and seafoods dishes. Prices may be rather steep but it's applicable to everything in Singapore. Try to choose well the restaurants as some may claim authenticity on specialty and turns out not to be really authentic. Some restaurants offer a good view of the bay. One of the more famous restaurant is Jumbo Seafood Gallery wherein you have to make a booking as it usually is crowded. Newton Hawker Centre - an open air eating area with several stalls to order food . It is a more pleasant way to enjoy local street food although price may be a bit higher than the ordinary stalls on the streets. Store owners may seem a little aggressive to get customers but just treat them casually. Location is near the Orchard Rd.


East Coast Seafood Centre has several restaurants specializing in Seafoods. You'd pass these restaurant if coming from Changi Airport and is bound for the city. One that is quite known is Red House.


Banana leaf Apolo - restaurants serving your meal in a banana leaf instead of plates. Several outlets are in Singapore but one of the famous among the chain is that found in Little India.
