Basic Information
Opening time:9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Entrance fee: 500 Yen
Things to see: A 3-storey temple whose two top floors are gold-leafed with gold. It sits amidst a pond and some gardens. Near the exit is a tea house known to sell great tea and Japanese cakes.
Directions: Kinkakuji can be accessed by direct bus number 101 or 205 from Kyoto Station. A faster variant is taking the Karasuma Subway Line to Kitaoji Station from where the temple can be reached in a short bus or taxi ride. Closest bus stops are Kinkakuji-michi or Kinkakuji-mae.
