Taipa Island was once a merchandise trading zone for China and the rest of the world. With the opening of Macau International Airport, it had resumed its role as a gateway of China and the world. Known for the Taipa village, Carmel Gardens and Taipa Praia and some hiking trails.
Coloane Island was once a pirates' cove where they can ambush ships carrying rich cargoes supposedly for trading. Presently, it is visited for its beaches, hiking trails and other sights.
